Dunkin’ Donuts says it will stop using foam cups by 2020

Dunkin’ Donuts announced Wednesday its plans to eliminate all foam cups in its global supply chain by 2020. The Canton-based company said it will begin the process of getting rid of all of the polystyrene cups starting this spring and will replace them with a “double-walled” paper cup in its U.S. restaurants. Dunkin’ Donuts’ emphasis on beverages is paying off, parent company Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc. said Tuesday, citing iced coffee and Frozen Dunkin’ Coffee as key drivers in recent same-store sales gains.
