Unfortunately, the minimum wage initiative in Everett supported by the Hospitality Association, 24-02, did not pass. It’s losing 41% yes and 59% no. The other minimum wage initiative, which does not include total compensation, 24-1, is passing 58% yes and 42% no, so this initiative will become law.

We continue to share the sentiment of the Everett Hearld that a council process where public meetings, discussion, full review by the city’s legal team and consideration and discussion of proposed amendments by the city council would provide a better means for addressing minimum wage in Everett. This was not an opportunity we were afforded, so we proceeded with proposed Initiative 24-02. We will continue to be engaged as the city moves to implement this new law after certification of election results.
