Have you ever wondered what the next big thing is in the culinary world? We have the recipe for what trends are coming your way this year.
The National Restaurant Association has released “What’s Hot,” its 2024 annual culinary forecast.
Do you remember a few years ago when everyone was making an Aperol spritz? How about the Impossible burger? Everyone was going nuts over deep-fried chicken sandwiches and starting to drink oat milk.
But it’s now 2024 and everything is changing. Comfort foods such as stews and soups are now on the menu as well as botanical drinks, birria and anything that is Nashville hot.
Social media is still playing a huge part in communicating your menu with your guests, especially TikTok. Sometimes a quick video of how your chef creates your dishes can create a buzz in the community. There are restaurants that are offering monthly subscriptions and upgrading their inventory systems to optimize profits.
The National Restaurant Association interviewed more than 1,500 culinary professionals who were presented with a list of 120 food and beverage items along with industry trends such as:
- Dishes and ingredients
- Flavors and condiments
- Non-alcoholic beverages
- Alcohol beverages
- Macro trends
