The Seattle and Tacoma Latino Metropolitan Chambers of Commerce awarded the Washington Hospitality Association and its President & CEO Anthony Anton the 2023 Corporate Excellence Award for Diversity and Inclusion of the Latino Community.

“We are the industry where the American Dream is still a reality. We’re proud that the association continues to work on behalf of all segments of our communities to make sure people continue to have the opportunity to pursue that dream,” Anton said. “To be recognized for our work in that area is, on behalf of our teammates, humbling.”

Anton received the award at the chambers’ annual gala held Feb. 3 at the Sea Mar Museum of Chicano/a/Latino/a Culture in Seattle.

“This esteemed accolade is in recognition of the Washington Hospitality Association’s exceptional commitment to excellence in the hospitality industry. Your organization’s remarkable dedication to fostering professional growth, ensuring safety, and providing unparalleled experiences has set a benchmark in Washington state,” said Marcos Wanland, president and founder of the Seattle and Tacoma Latino Chambers of Commerce.

“Specifically, we applaud your leadership in championing environmental and social impact initiatives, as evidenced by the creation of the “Latino Chapter” [of the association] in partnership with us.”

Paula Lamas, a producer and reporter from Univision, hosted the annual event that blended philanthropy, cultural celebration and recognition of the leadership and entrepreneurship of the Latino community.

Other notable attendees included Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, King County Executive Dow Constantine and Gov. Jay Inslee.

“Winter Gala 2024 was more than an event; it was a powerful expression of community, culture, and shared aspirations,” said a statement on the group’s website. “It not only provided a platform for celebrating Latino heritage and achievements but also fostered connections and support for the community’s entrepreneurs and leaders.”

Congratulations to Anthony Anton and the Washington Hospitality Association.
