This year, single-use serviceware such as plastic utensils and beverage lids have new regulations. Read all about it in this year’s update to the HERO, the Handbook for Excellent Restaurant Operations. 

Starting Jan. 1, 2022, businesses must make single-use serviceware products available to customers only on request. Items may also be included if the customer verbally confirms they want them when asked by a team member. Businesses may provide these items to customers using self-service bins and dispensers.
