President Obama signed into law a bipartisan bill creating a national standard requiring food manufacturers to disclose foods containing genetically modified ingredients. The USDA will issue regulations within two years. Food served in restaurants or similar retail food establishments is exempt from these disclosure requirements. The law also says no state or locality can impose its own separate GMO disclosure regulations on restaurants.

Washington Restaurant and Lodging Association Announce 2016 Legislative Heroes

The Washington Restaurant (WRA) and Washington Lodging Association have announced their 2016 Legislative Heroes. You can read more about them in the July edition of Washington Restaurant & Lodging Magazine. The associations chose four legislators who acted as lawmaker-heroes for hospitality businesses this year. Nominees come from both parties and both chambers. The group consists of Sen.
