FYI: U.S. Senate Bill Preserves Music Licensing
Despite an official at the Department of Justice saying earlier this year that music licensing consent decrees should be terminated, last week the Senate unanimously voted to pass the Music Modernization Act with the protections for restaurants that play music for guests. The U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a different version of the act last May, and could consider the Senate bill as early as this week, according to the National Restaurant Association. Don’t forget about the additional protections operators have in Washington state that we helped secure in 2016.
