Winning ProStart teams raise $20,000

Bonney Lake High School Management and Mt. Spokane High School Culinary teams each raised $10,000 through their communities’ generosity and by showcasing their skills. Both teams can now attend and compete for scholarship money at the National ProStart Invitational in Washington, D.C., May 8-10. Learn more about the National ProStart Invitational here.

How to resolve your ‘no-match’ letter

The Social Security Administration will send ‘no-match’ letters to employers when information in an individual employee’s W-2 form, Wage and Tax Statement, does not match the administration’s records. Vancouver members: City property, B&O and head tax increases recommended

According to The Columbian, a city advisory task force has recommended raising taxes – including reinstating a B&O tax for the first time since 2002. The proposed B&O tax would be $0.55 per $1,000 tax on gross annual revenue and the proposal would raise the city’s head tax by $70 per employee. Read more here.

Inland Northwest Culinary Academy Scholarship Committee meeting, May 6

Are you looking for ways to help culinary students get their degrees? Spokane’s Inland Northwest Culinary Academy has scholarship funds to award to two candidates. To choose which two students will get the funds, the committee will need volunteers to meet, read through the applications and select the winners. The group will meet 10:30 a.m., May 6, in Orlando’s at Spokane Community College. If you are interested, email Julie Litzenberger.

Spokane Chapter Golf Tournament, June 11

It’s time to register for the annual Spokane Chapter Golf Tournament, June 11, at Downriver Golf Course, 3225 N. Columbia Circle, Spokane. Register or become a sponsor for the event. Proceeds benefit local ProStart programs, Feed Spokane and the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy.
