New extreme heat rules in effect

Across the state, this week has been a scorcher. From Spokane to Seattle, temperatures have soared into the triple digits, causing the Northwest Weather Service to issue heat warnings.

On June 1, the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries enacted new emergency rules that are in effect from June 15-Sept. 29. These new rules require additional training for employees working outside in high temperatures. Be sure also to check out our Wildfire & Extreme Heat toolkit.
