The September 1, 2012 deadline to begin complying with Seattle’s new paid sick/safe leave mandate is fast approaching. Knowing this, the WRA, Seattle Restaurant Alliance (SRA), and WRA’s law firm Cairncross and Hempelmann have teamed up to create an online comprehensive guide to help you understand what changes you must make in your business to be in compliance by September 1. Please take some time very soon to visit www.seattlesickleave.com to read through how this law will impact your operations and what you must do to comply.

In addition to the WRA’s online tool, the Seattle Office of Civil Rights’ web site for the upcoming Seattle’s Paid Sick/Safe Leave law has been updated with new information. The website is http://www.seattle.gov/civilrights/SickLeave.htm and the new items include:

• An updated and comprehensive summary of the PSST Ordinance.
• Translated versions of the PSST poster in Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Tagalog and Somali.
• A Spanish version of the brochure.
• A Powerpoint presentation: “What Employers Need to Know.”
• Template letter for employers to employees about PSST.
• A sample Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Collective Bargaining Agreements.
• Information on the assessment of the Ordinance that the City of Seattle will conduct.
• A downloadable PDF version of the full text of the Ordinance (as well as a link to the online version).
• A map showing Seattle’s boundaries and the ability to put in your address to see if you are physically located within the city limits
