We are here to help. On the ballot this November voters have the option to pass Initiative 1433. I-1433 seeks to increase the state’s minimum wage $13.50/hr over four years and introduces a new statewide paid leave policy. If the initiative passes, the first jump from the current $9.47 to $11 an hour would go into effect on January 1, 2017, less than two months after the November election! Additionally the paid-leave component is over-reaching and ambiguous.
The Washington Restaurant and Washington Lodging Association in a coalition with other state business associations are working to inform members and the public about the initiative. As a part of the outreach, we are holding webinars for our members where they can learn how I-1433 came to be and what it will entail. Participants will have a chance to ask questions and get helpful tools.

Sign up now! The first of these webinars is happening August 29 at 10 a.m. AND 3 p.m. In order to participate, R.S.V.P to KatieD@warestaurant.org. Participants will be sent a phone number and passcode to participate. You must specify which time you would like to participate as the number and password are different for each. Additional dates in September will be announced.
