Get the recognition you deserve

We know you work hard to provide a great experience for your guests. At the same time, you strive to empower and motivate your team and furnish your operation with equipment, technology and other services that save time, money and energy. Still, you and your team ensure your menu satisfies every-changing guest demands, and you find time to give back to your community through fundraisers and volunteer activities.

We think you deserve more than a pat on the back. The industry offers several awards that give restaurants hard-earned and well-deserved recognition. We also offer awards that recognize your suppliers for helping you do business more creatively, efficiently and cost-effectively.

Over the next few weeks, we’re collecting nominations and applications for the following honors:

• Restaurant Neighbor Award. The award recognizes four restaurants for outstanding community service. Each year, a small business, a mid-size restaurant company and a large/national chain each receive $5,000 to support a favorite charity or community project. One person receives the Cornerstone Humanitarian award.

• Faces of Diversity Award. The award honors people who have achieved the American dream through perseverance and determination. Founded in 2006, this program was created to promote the importance of diversity and inclusion by highlighting model companies that have excelled in this area, as well as to raise awareness about the important role restaurants play in providing a ladder of opportunity for millions of Americans to achieve the American Dream.

• Kids Recipe Challenge. The contest recognizes restaurants that provide healthful menu options for children. Four winners earch will receive $1,500 and expense-paid trips to the NRA Show in Chicago in May 2013. Sponsored by McCormick for Chefs.

The deadline to apply for the Restaurant Industry Awards is Jan. 7, 2013. For more information, contact Alyssa Prince.

The NRA also offers two awards through the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show:

• Operator Innovations Awards. The program honors commercial and non-commercial restaurant and foodservice companies that have developed unique, innovative solutions to address restaurant challenges related to sustainability, food safety, health and nutrition, menu development and technology. Judges will select three finalists and a winner in each category, as well as an Innovator of the Year. Winners will be announced at Destination Celebration, an event at the NRA Show. Nominations are due Feb. 4, 2012.

• Food and Beverage Innovations Awards. The awards recognize food and beverage manufacturers who have made significant advancements and innovation in ingredients, preparation, processing and packaging. The FABI Awards celebrate innovative food and beverage products that drive restaurant and foodservice industry progress, guest satisfaction and profitability. Applications are due Jan. 16, 2013. Winners will be announced before the NRA Show, May 18 through 21, Chicago.
