Hospitality labor shortages are creeping across the state.  When you need employees to help your business succeed, not being able to connect with competent job seekers can be frustrating.

The Washington Hospitality Association Education Foundation has facilitated a number of hiring events across the state to help employers and job seekers connect.

Washington Hospitality hiring event has 100+ job  opportunities and vetted employees

TACOMA, WASH – On April 13, 2017 the Washington Hospitality Association is hosting a new kind of hiring event. The purpose of the day is to connect Pierce County citizens with opportunities, and employers with ready-to-work candidates. This event is different from typical job fairs as it removes roadblocks to employment such as lack of transportation, certifications, permits uniform needs, food assistance, and much more.

The event will be held at the Hotel Murano, 1320 Broadway, Tacoma, WA 98402, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The hospitality industry is the state’s largest private employer and the primary training ground for individuals needing to develop a work history and learn marketable skills. For Tacoma citizens who want jobs this is an opportunity to start a lasting career with critical support.

The Washington Hospitality Association has partnered with the Department of Health and Social Services (Employment Pipeline Region two) in order to connect hundreds of vetted, employable, ready-to-interview candidates with businesses in need.

Eligible applicants can be issued a food handlers permit, free or discounted Orca Lift cards, childcare assistance vouchers and more. These resources will be available for 12 months. Coverage for a year will help new hires be prepared to go to work immediately and stay engaged.

A Washington Hospitality Ambassador will assigned to businesses to assist with any needs related to interviewing, hiring and over-all success on the day of the event. Food and beverages are also provided.

When the hospitality association held an identical event in Seattle more than 100 career-focused job opportunities were available and 62 deserving individuals went home with new jobs in one day. Openings on April 13 include positions such as host, server, bartender, line cook, overnight security, housekeeping, concierge, front desk personnel, restaurant and hotel manager and more.

The Pierce County hiring event is yet another way that the hospitality industry proves it is a leader of change and growth in communities.
